The Reform UK leader Accuses Teachers of ‘Poisoning Our Kids’ on Racial Topics

The political figure stated that educators would initiate walkouts within weeks a Reform UK election victory, accusing them of “harming young minds” by telling children that black pupils are victims and white children oppressors.

At a gathering for a Michigan-based religious institution, Farage outlined his viewpoint on British schools, claiming that the “Marxist left” had “now in control of our education system”.

“I expect a walkout by educators soon after winning the next general election,” Farage commented in response to questions.

“They are poisoning our kids. They are telling them to be ashamed of their country. They inform an eight-year-old black child that he is a victim and a white child of the same age that he is an oppressor. They are dividing us, instead of fostering unity. They are feeding this harmful mindset.”

Reacting to these assertions, Daniel Kebede dismissed the notion that the schools were under Marxist influence as “absurd”. Kebede noted that any strikes must relate to teachers’ terms and conditions, and questioned whether Reform would attack these right after taking office.

“Farage has built his public life on dog-whistle politics and now, similar to other figures, he is targeting educators and their unions for a conflict,” Kebede stated.

“This is highly reckless. I don’t – and nor does my union – advocate such divisive theories as he’s suggesting … If he were to lead the government he would sell out our public services, particularly schooling … and he would be a disaster for students and learning.”

Reform, which is leading the polls by about 10 points, has provided limited specifics on its educational plans and seems not to have designated an education lead.

However, Farage’s remarks indicated the group would reform the system and the curriculum. Farage declared: “We face an enormous task with education – truly monumental. And, it won’t happen quickly; it will take us years, a long-term effort to reform.”

He stated that gen Z was more open to critical thinking, but older youth were “completely lost”.

Honoring a conservative activist, Farage said: “My goal for schooling is to foster independent thought – to instruct people that there are two points of view and you make up your own mind rather than current practices where one is virtuous and one is evil. It’s a massive job in the UK and US.”

The party has conflicted with a major educators’ organization, after Kebede called the party “far right and racist” and described the leader as “a cheap imitation”.

Farage has accused Kebede of being “an avowed radical” … an individual intent that young minds be corrupted through education, their thinking tainted regarding national issues” and has argued that the union is trying to indoctrinate teenagers against Reform.

Roughly a million individuals work in schools in the UK, with educators comprising half and the remainder being assistants and administrative personnel. The leading teachers’ organization has hundreds of thousands of members.

National strikes over teacher pay and conditions in recent years caused widespread disruption in educational institutions and extensive missed instruction for students.

At the US event, the Reform leader also pledged to help spread the digital courses of the institution in the UK. He stated organizations like it were “part of the fightback”, noting: “I mean this. I will help garner hundreds of thousands, if not millions of young people to your online courses. I make that commitment tonight and I will follow through.”

The college, a small private Christian college, offers free courses. According to its online description: “Comprehensive learning is necessary for personal happiness and to maintain the benefits of civil and religious liberty. The college furnishes these excellent programs for free to all who wish to learn.”
