Slot Insists He Is Safe and Has The Club's Backing Following PSV Eindhoven Defeat

Arne Slot acknowledged that it's natural for concerns to be raised about his future following another convincing loss versus the Dutch champions.

Liverpool suffered their ninth loss in twelve games, marking the club's worst run after being demoted in the 1953-54 season.

They were taken apart by the Eredivisie champions on a tough night at their home ground.

“I'm confident, I am OK, I have got significant support from management,” Slot remarked.

“It would be nice to change things and get a victory obviously but when you're coaching a team and struggling then it is normal that doubts arise.”

He continued, “I am OK with my role. This isn't the initial instance I’ve been in a tough spot but it's crucial that we turned it around.”

Discussions with Club Management

Upon being questioned to expand on his discussions with the team officials, Slot explained:

“We communicate frequently. They assist for the squad and to me and those talks happen but they don't phone me every single minute of the day to say they have faith in me.”

He added, “During our regular discussions I sense the confidence. However I've not talked to them after this defeat yet so it remains to be seen.”

Persistent Problems and Squad Response

Slot expressed regret over known shortcomings from his team in their European defeat, namely poor finishing and defensive lapses.

Meanwhile, player Curtis Jones was blunter in his view of the team's situation.

“I haven't got the solutions. Honestly, I do not. I’m saying that to everyone,” the midfielder stated.

“It’s just not good enough. I don't have to wait to consider it. I'm beyond feeling anger inside. I’m at the point now where I simply lack the phrases.”

He went on, “It’s hard because I’m playing for the side I follow. I’m a fan, and I've watched this club for years.”

“In recent memory, I haven’t experienced a Reds side experiencing a spell like this with performances so bad.”

Jones stated, “However we still have the crest on our chest. And as long as that badge is removed, we’re always going to fight.”

“Our aim is to get this team return to its rightful place, show everyone again what this club is about and why people call it the top club in the world.”

“However currently, we’re in the shit and it needs to change.”
