Iranian Forces State Assault on US Base in Bahrain, During Regional Counterattacks.
Iran's military claims to have hit a US naval base in Manama, as the country executed operations throughout the Middle East in retaliation for a "massive" and continuing attack targeting the nation by the United States and Israeli forces.
Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an zone in the area of the command center of the American Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The scope of any impact is not yet known and the American officials has remained silent.
Airspace Engagements
Elsewhere across the region, the UAE, Qatar and the State of Kuwait - all home to American military installations - reported they have shot down missiles in their air space.
In the Qatari capital, the Qatari Ministry of Defence stated it had intercepted several missiles seemingly aimed at the al-Udeid air base, the biggest US military installation in the region.
Iran's Declared Retaliation
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard declared it was attacking US bases and assets as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the strikes on the Islamic Republic launched by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday.
That US-Israeli operation - executed at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far focused on locations linked to the the regime, with President Trump encouraging the people of Iran to rise up against the government.
Regional Fallout
In the State of Israel, sirens were heard nationwide after the Israeli military said it had identified an barrage of missiles from Iran.
The defence ministry of the UAE said in a statement that the country has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"UAE air defence systems dealt with the missiles with great effectiveness and successfully intercepted a series of missiles," it added.
Officials reported missile fragments fell on a residential area in Abu Dhabi, causing some property damage and fatalities.
The United States Air Force is stationed at Al Dhafra Air Base, to the south of Abu Dhabi, along with the UAE Air Force.
