Buffalo's Bay Day Opens Patriots Route to Top Spot - Best of NFL Week 10

The tenth week again delivered, with a huge upset for the Bills demonstrating the 'any given Sunday' saying that draws so many fans into the NFL
That result may have opened things up for the New England Patriots to creep back into a leading position they used to occupy, with a schedule that gives them an advantage over their 8-2 competitors
Meanwhile in the NFC the Seattle Seahawks and Rams had perfect results to set up a monster clash next week, while our top performer is pursuing milestones as well as the Most Valuable Player award
Analysis - Simply an Off Day for the Bills?
Could it simply have been an emotional letdown from defeating Kansas City the previous week or something more? That's the question for the Buffalo team to answer
The Buffalo squad had secured seven victories in a row against Miami but were second best from the start as the Dolphins emerged as 30-13 winners in an eye-opening result - and display
MVP quarterback Josh Allen only got the squad's initial first down in the third period and first points in the fourth - yes the Dolphins had 10 days to get ready but it was still a significant failure produced by one of the league's best offenses
Dolphins quarterback Tua passed for two scores but rusher De'Von Achane was the devastating difference, with 225 combined yards and two scores
Containing the league's best running game was crucial too, with Cook and company registering just 86 yards, their lowest of the season and slightly more than half their 161.5-yard season average
Additionally there were the three critical turnovers, and the pair from Josh Allen in particular. An interception in the scoring area resulting in a nine minute possession produced nothing, and his fourth-quarter fumble that the Dolphins turned into seven points just later
It was typical 'old Buffalo' as they hurt themselves in the foot, falling into a deficit on defense and Josh Allen trying to overcompensate to dig his team from the situation - rather than the composed, disciplined, balanced Bills we've witnessed this season
Miami have demonstrated a bit of everything this year so the verdict is uncertain on whether this is the beginning of something, but for the Bills they'll need an instant response in a difficult matchup against the Buccaneers next week as the Patriots are quietly moving into a nice lead at the summit of the American Football Conference East
In Focus - Patriots Identify Route to Surprise Top Seed
Speaking of the Patriots, they're among three different 8-2 teams in the NFL, all AFC teams, but are they the top team?
You can find flaws in the Patriots, the Broncos and the Colts really for dominating the lesser sides, with just five of their combined twenty-four wins achieved against opponents with a positive record - and one example was the Colts defeating the Broncos
Denver defeated the champion Eagles in Philly and are masters of the fourth-quarter while Indianapolis can rely on Jonathan Taylor, but the Patriots adding Sunday's victory in Tampa Bay to their prime time success in Buffalo seems like a statement
Their pair of losses came in recently appointed coach Vrabel's initial three contests, with seven consecutive wins, just like the Broncos, from that point - but taking down Baker Mayfield after the Bucs had a week off to get ready was significant
Drake Maye's Most Valuable Player credentials won't go away, and he definitely deserves credit for courage after absorbing some savage hits in Tampa Bay but persevering to steer his team to victory
The defensive unit is reliable and first-year running back TreVeyon Henderson exploded on Sunday with 147 rushing yards and two exhilerating scores of fifty-five and sixty-nine yards - establishing himself as just the fifth different runner to exceed 22 miles per hour this year on his first score
Although you can debate who 'the top team' is technically, the Pats should be favorites to end with the best record due to their schedule - which features just a single matchup against a successful opponent, albeit a huge one against Buffalo
Visiting the Ravens is challenging too, but Denver have it more difficult in the AFC West with the Kansas City to play twice, the Chargers (who could also compete for first place but encounter the same problem) and also the Green Bay on the fixture list
The Colts also play the Kansas City, and have the Seahawks, San Francisco and two games with the five and four Jacksonville to contend with. There is a considerable distance to travel but the opportunity is available for a shock top seed in the AFC
Next Week - Los Angeles and Seattle Prepare for Next Week Clash
Two teams with strong arguments to be superior to all of the three different eight and two teams are NFC West rivals the Seattle and Rams, who each scored 40 burgers to go to seven and two before the upcoming major meeting between the pair in LA
They've both secured four victories in a consecutive games, have signal callers in Stafford and Darnold performing at an high standard (although Sam Darnold had turnover issues on game day) with excellent pass catchers, and defensive units giving up under 20 points a game
Each could realistically be without a loss as well - particularly the Los Angeles as their pair of losses came in overtime against the 49ers and then that painful defeat in Philly when they had a potentially winning field goal with the last kick blocked and returned by the Philadelphia for a touchdown
The Seahawks also lost to San Francisco, with a late touchdown in the opening week, before falling to the final play of the contest against the Tampa Bay - so they are genuinely two of the top teams in the NFL
The next matchup on Sunday could be the best of the season to date
Top Performer - Jonathan Taylor
Jonathan Taylor might be on for a record season after his incredible display in Germany - rushing for 244 rushing yards, registering three touchdowns and adding an additional forty-two {receiving yards
